Sam Michener was a track athlete at the University of Idaho when his sports psychologist, Trin (who was a member of the 2012 Trinidad Olympic 2-man bobsled team), floated the idea of pursuing bobsled racing.  Not knowing much about bobsled at the time, Michener has since competed in bobsled the 2018 Games.
