Elisa Chapman

MA Sport Psychology, MBA

Hi, I’m Elisa Chapman, owner-operator of The Mobilized Mind and experienced athlete, coach, and manager. I am a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) administered by the Association for Applied Sports Psychology and Board Certified in Biofeedback (BCB) administered by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance.  I hold a M.A. in Sports Psychology and MBA from John F. Kennedy University, as well as a B.S. in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Ever since I was very young, I was passionate about sports and engaged in several athletic activities. These included gymnastics, sports acrobatics, track, diving, and soccer; with soccer emerging as my primary sport. I played year-round, competitive, traveling soccer; including the Olympic Development Program, and I continued to play through my freshman year at Azusa Pacific University. That season, my team made it to the semi-finals at the National Championship.

Along with my athletic endeavors, I spent time assisting my dad coaching soccer and working as a counselor at local summer camps. This initiated my passion for mentoring and coaching others to grow and become confident in the people they are.

After my first college season, I decided it was time to more fully explore this other passion for mentorship. I ended my soccer career and spent the next 5 summers at Mt. Hermon summer camps in Santa Cruz. Working my way up from counselor, assistant program director, to staff counselor; I had the privilege of mentoring individuals and groups from 8 to 23 years of age.

After graduating college, I decided to rekindle my athletic side.  I moved to Mammoth Mountain for a “season" to snowboard, and I ended up falling in love with all things snowy.

I spent the next 10 winter seasons, working with individuals and groups, as a snowboard instructor and coach. I attained the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) Western Division Level 3 certification, became a PSIA-AASI West staff member and examiner, and attained the USA Snowboard Association (USASA) Level 200 coach’s certification.

My personal experience as an athlete, as well as my experience as a coach and counselor, led me to pursue my MA in sport psychology and MBA to create The Mobilized Mind.

I know how vital mental skills are to the success of athletes, as well as to the people in any competitive and/or high-pressure environment.  Whether you are performing on a snowboard, in a team sport, as a business sales rep, in the boardroom, on stage, or in rehabilitation; strong mental skills are vital to success.

A big part of leveraging one’s mental skills is the ability to self-regulate one’s stress response.  Harnessing real-time feedback of a performer’s stress response through biofeedback allows me the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between mind and body with a tangible modality.

As a mental performance coach and biofeedback specialist, I have found a niche that combines my passion for sports with my passion for mentorship of high performers in all walks of life. I am enthusiastic about every opportunity I have to partner with a performer on his or her journey of performance excellence.
